Man killed in Midlands pedestrian crash
Authorities are investigating after a man, believed to be in his 30s, was killed after being struck by a bakkie on the N3 near Merrivale in the Midlands yesterday.
Emergency services say the man sustained severe injuries and was declared dead at the scene.
Midlands EMS spokesperson, Derrick Banks says paramedics found the man lying in the emergency lane.
"When they assessed him, they found that he had suffered severe facial injuries. Unfortunately, there was nothing more medics could do for him and he was declared deceased on scene. The bakkie was on scene but no injuries were reported from the bakkie's [occupants]," Banks said.
