According to police, Radebe showed up at the sister's house with a gun - claiming he wanted to mend his relationship his fiancee.
KZN NPA's Natasha Kara says when Dube refused to speak to him, he shot her several times and before turning the gun on her mother who'd rushed in to intervene.
“He then took out the firearm and shot her several times on her upper body. She called out for her mother who rushed in and he also shot her. While they lay on the floor, Radebe went over to their bodies and finished off all the ammunition on them.”
"He fled the scene and handed himself over to the police three days later in the company with his attorney. He was convicted of two counts of premeditated murder and was sentenced accordingly. The court has also declared him unfit to possess a firearm."
Kara says the Regional Court Prosecutor, Ishara Sewnarayan, handed in the post mortem reports and ballistic evidence to the court. She also led eyewitness testimonies and the accounts of the police officials who were on the crime scene.
Sewnarayan led the sister’s testimony on the impact of the murders who said her house now felt like a graveyard and that the images from the day of the shooting still play on her mind.
"Further, she mentioned that she was laden with the financial responsibility of taking care of the household, even though she is unemployed.
