The Hawks have taken over the investigation into the attempted cash-in-transit robbery at the Workshop Shopping Centre in Durban central.

A guard who was moving cash from a business to a van was approached by five gunmen yesterday afternoon.
They took a money box from the guard.
Police spokesperson, Jay Naicker says police officers who were nearby investigating another crime responded to the robbery.
"The police officers came to his assistance and managed to prevent the men from fleeing with the moneybox."
