Convicted M19 rapist due to be sentenced

The man dubbed the 'M19 serial rapist' is set to learn his fate today.
Moses Mavila, who pleaded guilty to 61 charges in May, is to be sentenced in the Pinetwon Magistrate's Court.
He said he attacked 30 women over a three-year period from 2016 and preyed on those looking for work.

Mavila was found to have promised jobs to his victims before requesting to meet them on the M19 -- somewhere between New Germany and Westville.He would then drag the women into the nearest bushy area and rape and rob them.

Mzilo was arrested at his workplace in February following a three-year reign of terror.Sentencing was due to start in the Pinetown Magistrates Court yesterday, but the presiding officer was unwell.
