Man dies after car plunges into Durban river

A man has died while another has been critically hurt after their car left Inanda Road and plunged into a river in Durban's Springfield Park this morning.
There are no clear indication as to how the vehicle left the road at this stage. Rescue Care paramedics found the car in the water when they arrived at the accident scene.

The service's Garrith Jamieson says there had been two occupants in the car, both were in their early 30s.
"Unfortunately one person had sustained fatal injuries and there was nothing more paramedics could do for him and he was declared deceased on the scene", he said.
"The second person, believed to be the passenger, was stabilized on scene before being transported through to a nearby hospital", Jamieson said.

"At this stage events leading up the crash are unknown. All authorities were present, including the SAPS Search and Rescue Unit and the Durban fire department", he said.
