Fourteen people have been injured in two crashes involving minibus taxis on KwaZulu-Natal's roads this morning.
In the first incident in Boughton, Pietermaritzburg, 13 people were hurt after a taxi crashed into a tree on Zwartkops Road.
Paramedics treated a woman found lying trapped inside the vehicle. ER24's Russel Mering says fire services used the jaws of life to free the passenger from the taxi.
"ER24 paramedics arrived on scene to find the taxi smashed against the tree. Several passengers were found walking around near the scene. Paramedics assessed the patients and found that all 13 sustained minor to moderate injuries," Meiring said.

They were transported to nearby Pietermaritzburg hospitals for further treatment.
Meanwhile, the driver of a taxi sustained minor injuries after the vehicle he was travelling in overturned on the M13 at Fields Hill in Pinetown.
"Reports where that a taxi overturned on the Pietermaritzburg bound carriageway. Multiple ambulances were dispatched. On arrival, it was found that the taxi was fortunately empty and only the driver had sustained minor injuries," Rescue Care's Garrith Jamieson said.
