Man crashes stolen truck into cars, pedestrian in Durban

A suspect who allegedly stole a truck and crashed into several cars and a pedestrian in Durban is in the hospital under police guard.

The suspect was shot in the arm by police who managed to stop the truck in Pinetown on Monday.
Paradedics say a family of five, who were travelling home in one of the vehicles, were also injured.
KZN police spokesperson Robert Netshiunda says the truck was stolen in Chatsworth.

"The truck driver in question committed a number of reckless and negligent acts in the Chatsworth, Berea and King Dinizulu areas.
"When the said truck was at Underwood Road in Pinetown, police instructed the driver to stop the truck, and the driver intentionally rammed the police vehicle, and the state vehicle was damaged.
"The suspect, who is a foreign national, was injured on the arm and was also grazed by a bullet. Police survived the crash unscathed."
