Man busted with drugs worth R1m in Margate

A man busted for drugs worth more than R1 million in Margate is due to appear before a Ramsgate court on Monday.

The 42-year-old was caught this weekend after police received information about a suspect who was travelling from Margate with drugs. 


He was intercepted on Maureen Street. 


KwaZulu-Natal police spokesperson Nqobile Gwala says 13 orange and white capsules of heroin were found in his jeans pocket.

"The vehicle was also searched and police found 26 bags of crystal meth, eight bags of cocaine uncut stones, 24 ecstasy tablets, four bags of plastics containing empty capsules, weighing scale, one litre bottle of acetone chemical that is used to mix the drugs and 22 boxes of infant powder were also found. 


"The recovered drugs are valued at R1.3 million. A 42-year-old man was placed under arrest for possession and dealing in drugs."
