Updated | By Lauren Beukes
eThekwini Mayor Mxolisi Kaunda has praised the Hawks for their breakthrough in the case of a murdered Durban metro cop.

Captain Dumisani Zondi was stabbed to death last month in Montclair - south of Durban.
It's understood Captain Zondo was training in a park while off-duty - - when he noticed a group of men drinking in public.
Police say when he confronted them about their illegal activity - an altercation broke out and Zondi was stabbed.

Officers from the KwaZulu-Natal Hawks arrested a 34-year-old man in Umzimkhulu on Thursday - just over two weeks after the killing.
In a statement on Friday, Mayor Kaunda says they're still in pain over Zondo's murder.
He's described him as an outstanding officer - who - like a true soldier - died with his boots on.
He says he hopes the arrest will be the beginning of a healing process for his family.
