A Yellowwood Park man accused of setting a woman who works for his father on fire has appeared in the Durban Magistrate’s Court.

It is alleged 28-year-old Dustin Govender doused Zinhle Mchunu with propellant and then set her alight. Mchunu survived the ordeal.
Govender's first appearance before a magistrate was a brief one today. The court heard that he has already been granted 'after hours' bail.
Govender was arrested last Friday and released on R7,000 bail later that same day. He stands charged with one count of attempted murder.
The State alleges that on May 21st, Govender poured petrol on Mchunu's legs and set them alight. The State believes his intention was to kill her.
Last week, workers affiliated to workers federation, Cosatu protested outside his father's business in the Durban CBD.
