Mhlengi Gwala was accosted by chainsaw-wielding assailants while on a training ride in Umbilo yesterday morning.

Spokesperson, Thulani Zwane says three men forced the 26-year-old into nearby bushes.

"They attempted to cut both of his legs using a chain saw. The suspects were disturbed by something and they fled the scene. The said victim was then assisted by a security guards who were walking past and they took him to hospital where he was treated for the injuries.
