Man accused of murdering Normandien couple wants bail

The 29-year-old man accused of killing a Normandien couple wants to be released on bail.

Siyabonga Macu appeared briefly in the Newcastle Magistrate's Court this morning, in connection with last month's murder of local farmers, Glen and Vida Rafferty.

He was arrested in the Osizweni over the weekend and charged with two counts of murder.
His arrest came a month after the elderly couple were ambushed, robbed and killed on their farm.
Police say his bail hearing will take place next Monday.
Police say the investigation is ongoing and are expecting more arrests.
