Gun amnesty to run until end of January

KZN authorities have made another appeal to people to take advantage of the amnesty for illegal firearms, which runs until the end of January next year.

. This after confiscating an assortment of weapons from a property in Nkandla, in northern KZN.
The police's Jay Naicker says during an anti-crime drive in Ekhombe, this past weekend, a 39-year-old suspect was arrested.
Officers seized more than 200 (275) rounds of ammunition and AK47 rifles, pistols and a revolver from the property.

"We are once against, appealing to members of the public to make use of the current amnesty period to hand in illegal firearms."
"An intelligence driven operation was conducted by police officers from the King Cetshwayo District," said Naicker.
During the operation, police officers seized seven firearms including three automatic rifles."
