Makhosi Khoza quits 'new alien and corrupt ANC'

Makhosi Khoza has quit the ANC.

She made the announcement earlier at Johannesburg's Liliesleaf Farm. 

Khoza had ruffled some feathers within the ANC - with her public criticisms of the ANC leadership and particularly her calls for President Jacob Zuma to step down.

She'd been accused of ill-discipline and charged with bringing the party into disrepute by the ANC KZN and was due to appear before a disciplinary committee.

But Khoza says she wasn't going to let herself be put through that - referring to the ruling party as a 'new alien' and corrupt in its dealings.

"I knew that there's no more of the ANC. The ANC is too broken to be fixed. I will not be subject to directionless directives that we've been getting. In any case, they would have fired me. Even a structure that has been declared null and void by the courts, Gwede Mantashe continued to give that structure to continue persecuting and disciplining me," she says.
