President Cyril Ramaphosa would like to ask the DA leader, as well as others, questions as part of the Public Protector's probe into the Bosasa donation.

Maimane asked Busisiwe Mkhwebane to investigate whether Ramaphosa had deliberately lied to Parliament about the R500,000 donation before the ANC's elective conference in 2017.

It was allegedly made by the company's CEO through Ramaphosa's son.

The president was served with a notice to inform him he's implicated in a public protector probe and has been given time to respond.

The DA's Azola Mboniswa says the party has not received any subpoena or official communication from the Public Protector as yet.

"For now it is just merely an update from the Public Protector to say that they are still with the President and what they plan to do."

"Once a decision is final and formal communication is sent to Maimane, we will seek legal advice and comment on the matter," said Mboniswa.
