Fawzia Peer is now wearing the Mayor's chain.

eThekwini's Deputy Mayor was asked to step into the role by the ANC after Zandile Gumede was placed on a 30-day leave of absence.
The ANC's Mdumiseni Ntuli told reporters recently that they are confident the city's been left in good hands.
"You can't be a deputy [mayor] and not ascend when the incumbent is not there," said Ntuli.
He says when choosing a deputy, the party chooses a comrade who can takeover as and when required.
Gumede, councillor Mondli Mthembu and businessman Craig Ponnan are out on bail and facing fraud and corruption charges linked to a dodgy multi-million rand DSW tender.
