The letter which has been widely distributed on social media states that the meeting with Magashule follows his comments in the media this week that he will not step aside due to allegations of corruption.

“The Integrity Commission had initially hoped to meet with you to discuss and clarify the interview with you on Saturday 29 August. We were however advised that there is a Special NEC scheduled for 28th to 30th August 2020.

"We therefore request your audience at any time of your convenience during the coming week. Please inform Comrade Obakeng Moate of your availability to enable her to set up the meeting," reads the letter.

However, ANC spokesperson, Pule Mabe, says this is fake news.

He released a video on social media, denying the existence of the letter.

“Well, we have seen a letter doing rounds on various social media platforms purporting to be from the Integrity Commission of the ANC. We can confirm that our SG has not received such a letter. Should a letter like that be brought to his attention or by any other body of the organisation for as long as matters are raised within the structures of the organisation, internally so."

It comes while the ANC’s National Executive Committee (NEC) heads into a special meeting this weekend to discuss allegations of Covid-19 tender corruption and the public outcry it has since caused.
