Mabuza won't be sworn into Parliament

Deputy President, David Mabuza won't be sworn in as an MP for the sixth democratic Parliament today.

The ANC says in a statement that Mabuza asked for a postponement which the party granted.
It says the postponement was requested in the wake of a report by the ANC Integrity Commission.
The outcome suggests that Mabuza allegedly prejudiced the integrity of the ruling party and brought the organisation into disrepute.
Political analyst, Imraan Buccus says the move is not surprising.
"There were indications in the run up to this - that Mabuza won't be the deputy president of the country and won't serve on the executive. There have been a number of allegations around him. [It speaks to] the interest that Ramaphosa has in wanting to clean up the State and appoint people who don't have corruption scandals around them," he said.
In this light, Buccus says, it won't be surprising that Mabuza won't return to his position as Deputy President.

"Added to this, is the recommendation of the integrity commission," Buccus said.
National Assembly Speaker, Baleka Mbete and Malusi Gigaba withdrew from the ANC's parliamentary list yesterday.
