Looting continues in parts of KZN, N3 between Cedara, Heidelberg closed

There have been reports that looting, arson and destruction of various properties continued unabated until the early hours of Tuesday morning in parts of Durban and the rest of the province.
Due to protest action, the entire N3 toll route remains closed to traffic between Cedara in KwaZulu-Natal and Heidelberg in Gauteng.
On Monday night, Durban firefighters battled a blaze at Value Centre in Springfield Park, after protesters set the building alight.
Hundreds of people looted shops there earlier.
President Cyril Ramaphosa has given orders for boots on the ground.

There will be a briefing at 10am on Tuesday.
The Justice, Crime Prevention and Security Cluster will explain how the army and other anti-crime teams are going to carry out their duties, to deal with the disruption, vandalism and arson.
These measures include the deployment of the defence force to act as force multiplier to existing law enforcement agencies.
