LOOK: KZN Edu shuts down horrific matric study camp
Updated | By Nomfundo Ngcobo
A matric study camp in the Harry Gwala District has been closed down.

Education MEC, Kwazi Mshengu ordered it shut immediately after learning of the appalling conditions pupils were studying under.
The department says they received photos showing learners studying in a tent with overflowing toilets.
The pupils were also apparently without masks and social distancing not being observed.
Spokesperson Muzi Mahlambi says the district has been instructed to find another venue for the learners.

"We are not taking this lightly," he said.
"We instructed the Head of Department, Dr Nzama to warrant a report from the officials that organise the camp to give an account on how this has happened and how was spent."
Mahlambi says the organisers are not monitoring the situation and it has deteriorated to this point.
