Local artists arrested for N3 protest released on bail

More than 30 local artists, who were arrested during the N3 protests, have been released on bail of R1000 each

Traffic came to a grinding halt when dozens of artists and service providers in the entertainment industry demonstrated near Spaghetti Junction yesterday. 

They want the government to increase the crowd capacity at live events to 70‪% from the current allowance of 50 people under alert level 2.‬

They say the months-long coronavirus lockdown's made it difficult to earn a living.  Police spokesperson, Nqobile Gwala says the entertainers are facing charges under the Illegal Gatherings Act and Traffic Act. 

"The total of 12 vehicles were impounded for further investigations. The suspects are expected to appear at the Pinetown Magistrates Court next Wednesday."
