Load shedding ruling: Govt has poor record of obeying court orders, says expert
Updated | By Celumusa Zulu
A legal expert says the government has a poor track record of obeying court orders.

This after the Pretoria High Court ordered the electricity minister to work on a plan to exempt public hospitals, schools, and police stations from load shedding by the end of January.
It also declared the rolling blackouts unconstitutional and a violation of basic human rights.

Constitutional law expert Professor Koos Malan says the government's failure to uphold court rulings in the past has been disappointing.
"The minister of electricity and the state in general should make arrangements before the end of January, as the court order said. So that hospitals and so on could have consistent electricity supply."
