#LiveBeyondJuly campaign to take pro-active approach to road safety
Updated | By Lauren Beukes
Transport officials are hoping for a positive turnaround on our roads, following the launch of the department's new safety awareness campaign.

#LiveBeyondJuly got off the ground at the Marianhill Toll Plaza yesterday in the wake of reports of serious transgressions by motorists.
The department's Ayanda-Allie Paine says since Thursday, more than 100 people were arrested on charges of drunk driving - including an off duty traffic official and a ride-hailing services driver, who was allegedly seven times over the alcohol limit.
She says two people were arrested for trying to bribe traffic officers.
"The operation was hugely successful. This is just a demonstration of what we're going to have going forward. We are not just going to wait for Easter, or the festive season before you see police visibility. This must happen at all times - whenever there are events of this nature and regular day activity in South Africa," Paine said.
