LISTEN: Durban residents welcome redeployment of eThekwini mayor
Updated | By Sandile Zikhali
The ongoing political developments in eThekwini and Msunduzi have KwaZulu-Natal residents and communities talking.

Many people have come out in support of the ANC's decision to redeploy its members serving on the two municipalities' Executive Committees., while supporters of Gumede, for example, have questioned the motive.
Yesterday, the ANC in KwaZulu-Natal announced the decisions taken at its Provincial Executive Committee meeting in Durban.
The decision to redeploy members from the two EXCOs means Zandile Gumede and Themba Njilo have been axed as the mayors of eThekwini and Msunduzi respectively.
The ruling party wants to fill the vacancies of all its EXCO positions at the two municipalities within the next week.
Gumede has been embroiled in a corruption controversy for several months. She was placed on special leave following her arrest in connection with a multi-million Rand waste removal tender, dating back to 2016.
The matter is due to return to court in January.
Msunduzi has been placed under administration. The ANC told reporters yesterday that the PEC reaffirmed its belief that it was the correct decision to request the provincial government to place the local municipality under administration.
