BREAKING: Zandile Gumede removed as eThekwini mayor
Updated | By ECR Newswatch
The ANC in KwaZulu-Natal has confirmed the removal of embattled eThekwini Mayor Zandile Gumede.
Provincial secretary, Mdumiseni Ntuli says the Provincial Executive Committee has decided to redeploy all party members serving on Executive Committees of eThekwini and Msunduzi.
The PEC has mandated the Provincial Working Committee to ensure that all vacancies brought about by the decision to be filled within the next week.
Gumede was arrested in May in connection with what the Hawks believe was a dodgy multi-million Rand waste removal tender, dating back to 2016.
The party then placed Gumede on special leave.
