LISTEN: Durban Metro Police urge communities to be safe this fireworks season

Durban Metro Police are appealing to fireworks-users to be cautious when burning and setting off light displays this year. Officers are also urging people to adhere to all bylaws regulating the use of fireworks when Diwali celebrations continue today.
Durban Metro's Parboo Sewpersadh says they are pleased that there have been no reported incidents in the municipality since the season kicked off on Monday.

He says teams are on standby to respond to all callouts."If we receive a complaint, Metro Police will act upon it. People must not make a nuisance of themselves, they can be charged under the relevant bylaws and fined R1,500," he said.
Sewpersad is urging people to make sure they adhere to the regulations and enjoy themselves in a responsible manner.
