Liquor Council calls for industry to stand behind gvt's COVID-19 efforts
Updated | By Nothando Mkhize
The National Liquor Traders Council is calling for responsible trading this festive season from tavern and shebeen owners.
Convener of the Liquor Traders Formation Lucky Ntimane says the industry should all rally behind the call in a collaborative effort to support the government to stand against COVID-19.
Ntimane says the organisation also wants to see a decrease in the abuse of liquor.

He says this can manifest itself as binge drinking, drinking and walking, underage drinking as well as drinking and driving. Ntimane says traders should follow restrictions as they'll be saving many lives in turn.
"Of course we will be affected in our business operations as a result of restrictions, but we accept this is the sacrifice we all have to make," he says.
"Liquor traders who break the law should face the full might of the law, even it means losing their liquor licences."
