Liquor board hopes arrest of Enyobeni tavern owner serves as lesson
Updated | By Algoa FM
The Eastern Cape Liquor Board has welcomed the arrest of the Enyobeni tavern owner.

Last month, 21 young people who'd been celebrating the end of exams at the establishment in East London died in mysterious circumstances.
The 52-year-old owner and two of his employees, aged 33 and 34, have been taken into custody for allegedly contravening the Liquor Act.

The provincial liquor board laid charges shortly after the tragedy, accusing the owner of selling alcohol to children under the legal drinking age.
"Our hope and wish is that he is given a very serious punishment by the court of law so that this is used as a lesson given to other liquor traders," says spokesperson Mgwebi Msiya.
