Seventeen people have been killed in a head-on collision on the N1 near Mookgophong in Limpopo.

Eight others were injured.
The 22-seater Iveco bus and a Toyota SUV collided head-on on Tuesday afternoon.
Limpopo Transport and Community Safety spokesperson Mike Maringa says the driver of the SUV allegedly lost control of the car due to a burst tyre.
“The bus burst into flames and sixteen occupants trapped inside, including the driver were burnt to death. The driver of the SUV was also killed on impact. Eight people survived, six are seriously injured and two escaped with minor injuries,” says Maringa.
He adds that the department is concerned with an increase in fatal accidents reported on the N1.
