Updated | By Lauren Beukes
Two farmers have been struck by lightning and killed in Bergville in the Drakensberg.
Disaster Management officials in KZN say about 50 people who were working on a farm were injured during the thunderstorm on Wednesday.
Four of them are still recovering in hospital.
KZN Cogta MEC Bongiwe Sithole-Moloi says their teams are there.
"It is saddening that these disasters continue to claim lives in our province, despite our efforts to mitigate the risk. Our disaster teams are collaborating with the affected families to provide any necessary assistance.
"We have also coordinated with other departments to offer the required support, including psychological counseling for the survivors and their families," she stated.
"Our disaster teams are actively monitoring the situation on the ground, and further details will be provided in due course.'
Meanwhile, there's a yellow level 2 weather warning for severe thunderstorms with possible heavy downpours, severe lightning, hail and strong damaging winds for the western parts of KZN on Friday.
