Life in prison for Ladysmith woman who poisoned pregnant colleague
Updated | By Gcinokuhle Malinga
The
Ladysmith Regional Court has sentenced a woman to life behind bars for
masterminding the murder of her pregnant colleague.

Nokubonga Dubazane hired two men to carry out the plot.
Hlengiwe Ndaba's burnt remains were discovered in her vehicle in a forest in Winterton in 2020.
Investigators uncovered that 40-year-old Dubazane had worked with the slain teacher, and on the day of the murder, brought her colleague lunch laced with poison.
KZN SAPS spokesperson Thenjiswa Ngcobo says Ndaba was eight months pregnant.
"When the deceased became weak she was taken to Miya’s house where she was strangled to death. Her body was then moved to the forest where she was set alight.

"It was also discovered that Dubazane wanted to take Ndaba’s job since she was almost due for maternity leave. She believed that if she killed Ndaba she would get her job and become permanently employment in the position of the deceased."
Dubazane's co-accused Nkosingiphle Ngubane was sentenced to life imprisonment, while Mqapheli Miya was given 25 years behind bars for the murder in court this week.
