At least 24 confirmed rabies cases in KZN since the beginning of 2021

Agriculture officials have begun another rabies vaccination drive as KwaZulu-Natal records more cases.

The department has confirmed a two-year-old boy from eNgonyameni near uMlazi has died from the disease.
It also recently claimed the life of another ten-year-old boy who was bitten by a dog in Umbululu.
It says so far, 24 rabies cases have been confirmed in KZN since the beginning of the year.

The department's Quinton Doidge says vaccination clinics are being held along the KZN coast Monday until 19 March.
"We try to do rabies campaigns throughout the province on a yearly basis, but Covid affected us in 2020. So we are getting cracking again now before it spreads too much.
"The Department of Agriculture, we actually do mobile vaccination. We've got public address systems in our vehicles and we drive along and we announce."
