Covid-19 recovery rate increases to 94.5%

South Africa’s Covid-19 recovery rate has increased to 94.5%.
Statistics released by Health Minister Dr Zweli Mkhize on Sunday evening, show that the country’s recoveries now stand at 1 430 259.
A further 1 168 new Covid-19 cases were identified in the latest 24-hour period, bringing the number of cumulative cases in the country to 1 513 393.

The number of Covid-19 related deaths continues to rise with Gauteng accounting for 25 new related deaths and the Western Cape accounting for 17.
The provinces of the Eastern Cape and the Free State accounted for four fatalities each, while KwaZulu-Natal recorded two deaths.
This brings the number of Covid-19 deaths to 49 993.
The latest data comes on the first day of South Africa moving back to Level 1 lockdown in 2021.
