Law enforcement deployed on all roads to reed dance
Updated | By Noxolo Miya
Stricter road rules are in place in preparation for the expected increase in traffic volumes leading to Nongoma this weekend.

That's the assurance given by the Department of Transport in KwaZulu-Natal.
The annual reed dance is set to take place in eNyokeni Royal Palace on Saturday.
AmaZulu King MisuZulu kaZwelithini will receive reeds from hundreds of maidens from various provinces and neighbouring countries, eSwatini.
His Majesty is expected to give a speech on societal issues, including gender-based violence and teenage pregnancy.
The department says the Road Traffic Inspectorate and other law enforcement agencies have deployed scores of officers to man the roads.
"We are expecting an influx of buses that will be transporting maidens. We have been conducting inspections of buses as part of being proactive," says MEC Sipho Hlomuka.
"We want to ensure the safety of maidens and all participants who will be attending the annual reed dance. We are appealing to all road users to be extra vigilant and work with traffic law enforcement. Police will be deployed on all roads leading to Nongoma."
