Misuzulu 'humbled' by renaming of town to Zwelithini
Updated | By Gcinokuhle Malinga
Zulu King Misuzulu ka Zwelithini has given his blessing for the town of Nongoma to be renamed after his late father.
The KZN Economic Development MEC says Nongoma will become King Zwelithini Local Municipality.
Siboniso Duma visited the king after a council confirmed the decision.
He says the name change will be the perfect tribute to the late Goodwill Zwelithini, who received visitors at the royal palace in Nongoma.
It's hoped it'll attract more tourists and investors to the northern KZN town.
"This is the biggest village of the Zulu nation, in terms of population size and land occupied. As the royal family, we are humbled that the municipal council saw it fit to honour and respect the late King.
"Therefore we promise to continue to work together in growing this town and maintain its good reputation."
