Law enforcement costs take huge cut of city's budget: eThekwini official

An eThekwini official says the inability of law enforcement to be proactive in tackling crime is costing the city both time and money.

Municipal officials and various other role players are thrashing out plans to effectively combat crime at a safety summit at the Durban ICC.
Noluthando Magewu is the Acting Deputy City Manager for the Community and Emergency Services Cluster.
She says criminals have often proven to be one step ahead of law enforcement.
