Bheki Ntuli also says they have beefed up law enforcement on the provinces' roads for this long weekend to make sure that motorists adhere to the lockdown regulations.

Ntuli says they have intensified their law enforcement operations and roadblocks at major entry and exit points into the province and on busy roads to ensure that there is no unnecessary movement.

"Police are all over the show, on all our provincial roads in KZN and within our communities in the deep rural area. It's' supposed to be the Easter weekend, but it seems to be normal, and now that things are normal we are clamping on anybody who would infringe the regulation. We believe people will be safe and at home with their family."

Ntuli says there will be strictly no Easter weekend church services, no mass gatherings and other large meetings.

"We are grateful that many churches and religious leaderships are committed to obeying the regulations, and we will be clamping down on every activity that will be allowing mass gatherings."

Ntuli says those rendering essential services or transporting essential goods will be allowed on the road, granted they have a valid permit.
