Last chance to apply for special votes

The Independent Electoral Commission Mawethu Mosery is encouraging those who will not be in the areas where they are meant to cast their ballots on August 3 to make use of the special vote option

"Those who will be visiting voting stations for a special vote can apply online or they may apply by sending an SMS to 32249 with the message being their ID number," he said. 

Mosery says for those who are disabled or bed-ridden, electoral officers will come to their homes to help them vote.

"Those at home must get a family member, a community leader, or an activist to bring their application to one of our offices so that we can assist them," he said. 

To apply for a special vote, SMS your ID number to 32249.
