Lamola lauds NPA for improved performance, convictions

With its list of cases to prosecute growing, the National Prosecution Authority has been allocated R4.9 billion by the Justice Ministry.

Minister Ronald Lamola says over the past two financial years the prosecutions authority has improved its performance and has maintained high conviction rates.
He's tabled the department's R22.4 billion budget for 2022/23.
Legal Aid has been allocated over R2 billion.

"Legal Aid South Africa is allocated R2 billion and Legal Aid South Africa is one of the few entities in government which is distinguishable honour of being recognised amongst the top employers in South Africa for the 13th consecutive year,” Lamola told MPs.
He said it will enable the state to fight crime and accelerate efforts to recover from the Covid-19 pandemic.
