Ladysmith youth event postponed due to water shortage
Updated | By Sandile Zikhali
The KZN Department of Social Development has had to cut short - a youth empowerment event in Ladysmith, northern KZN, due to a water crisis.
More than 300 young people from across the province had been attending the camp when it was called off.
The project was geared towards promoting social cohesion and creating dialogue among the province's youth.
The department's Ncumisa Ndelu says they have not yet decided on the way forward.

She says the youth in KZN face many challenges - and the camp was meant to help address them.
"Young people are faced with so many challenges from teenage pregnancy to crime - to drug and substance abuse and alcoholism. It's important for young people to be given a platform where they can discuss these issues and possibly come up with solutions," she said.
