Ladysmith officers rescue kids from burning house
Updated | By ECR Newswatch
Two KZN police officers are being hailed as heroes after rescuing four children from a fire in Ladysmith.

Police say Warrant Officer Shamila Maharaj and Sergeant Mariaan Warmenhoven had been on patrol on Phillip Frame Road when they noticed a fire at a vacant building.
The blaze quickly spread to a neighbouring house where the two officer heard the desperate screams of children.
They rushed into the smoke filled house and got the young children - as well as the home owner to safety - before phoning the local fire department.
Sergeant Warmenhoven's husband, Sergeant Dave Warmenhoven had been off duty at the time but rushed to the scene and tried to douse the flames.
The fire department arrived a short while later and completely extinguished the blaze.
No one was hurt in the fire.
