A south coast family is devastated about the death of a 17-year-old school boy who was knocked over by a vehicle in a hit-and-run.

Yamkelo Mdewuka had been on his way to study for his trials when he was knocked down on the R102 near the Umtentweni river bridge on Saturday evening.
The Port Shepstone High School matric pupil was later found with a major injury to the head and rushed to hospital where he underwent surgery.
He was transferred to a Durban hospital where he died on Tuesday.
Yamkelo's mother, Nana Mdewuka says at first police thought he had fallen off his skateboard but later ascertained that he had been hit by a car.
