After yesterday's heavy downpours in the Uthukela and Umzinyathi districts, which left an elderly woman dead - there is a warning of more thunderstorms and flash flooding in parts of KwaZulu-Natal.

Emergency services had their hands full, with scores of other people injured in the Tugela Ferry and Umsinga areas.
The South African Weather Service says there is a chance of scattered showers around the province, with the possibility of severe thunderstorms expected over the interior, particularly over the northern half - which includes Ulundi and Vryheid.

Forecaster Wisani Maluleka says there is a 30% chance of showers from tomorrow until the end of the week, while there is a 60% chance of rain over the weekend.
"As usual, when it comes to thunderstorms people need to be cautious because we know that there's a high rate of lightning strikes. There are a lot of accidents related to thunderstorms in the province," he said.
The KZN Department of Cooperative Governance has dispatched its disaster management teams to areas affected by yesterday's heavy rains.
