KZN unemployement rate raises concerns of city budget expenditure

KwaZulu-Natal's official unemployment rate has climbed to 26,4% in the third quarter of 2020.
It's a 7,5% quarter to quarter difference - and 0,5 year on year difference.
Our national joblessness figure increased by 7,5 percentage points to 30,8%. Statistics South Africa's revealed the latest figures.
The DA's Economic Development spokesperson for the province has been reacting to the numbers.

Heinz de Boer believes money allocated by the government to create job opportunities is being spent on other things.
"If we had seen the budget been used correctly we would have seen more employement opportunities been created for people.
We have an inflated economic development budget within KZN which is essentially not doing anything to bolster the business. It is basically being used for press releases, for fancy events and advertising," he said.
