KZN taxi driver caught 13 times over the legal alcohol level

A taxi driver was caught in Umdloti on Monday, for being 13-times over the limit while driving a fully loaded minibus. 

New breathalyser means drunk drivers can be arrested immediately

KZN Transport says over the last two-and-a-half weeks, 81 drivers have been arrested for getting behind the wheel under the influence.

The department sends out a warning that it will be coming down hard on motorists who fail to adhere to the rules of the road.  


In Dundee, another man was arrested for allegedly driving while five-times over the legal alcohol limit. Authorities say eight people have been arrested for speeding. The department says as we near the festive season peak - more law enforcement officers will be deployed to the province's roads.
