KZN storm damage estimated at R100-million: Dube-Ncube

The KwaZulu-Natal Department of Co-operative Governance and Traditional Affairs says severe floods in parts of the province last week caused damage to the tune of R100-million.

Officials say seven fatalities have also been confirmed.
Parts of eThekwini and the north coast experienced extreme flooding after heavy rainfall.
MEC Nomusa Dube-Ncube visited KwaMashu, north of Durban, yesterday.

"Reports so far estimate to R100-million the amount of damage to furniture and infrastructure. We have received damage of 363 675 RDP houses and 2281 homes."
eThekwini mayor, Zandile Gumede and Human Settlements MEC, Ravi Pillay also visited the area.
