KZN set to experience heatwave

Some parts of KZN can expect severe weather conditions today.

The South African Weather Service says Newcastle, Ladysmith and other areas in north-western KZN look set to experience a heatwave - with temperatures expected to peak at around 40 degrees.
But it's not only the sweltering heat that residents will have to brace for.

"As the days continues, we are expecting some developments in thunderstorms - it may become severe in those regions and might go into the northern interior of KZN, including areas like Vryheid, Pongolo as well as surrounding areas," says forecaster, Thandiwe Gumede.
Gumede says those thunderstorms could be accompanied by hail, strong winds and severe lightning.
"It might result in some damage to either property as well as infrastructure, including vehicles as well as cause injuries for people living in those areas," she said.
