KZN schools to resume nutrition programmes
The KwaZulu-Natal provincial government says it's now ready to provide all learners with meals as part of the national schools nutrition programme.
This as Grade 6 and 11 learners returned to classrooms on Monday, in most KZN schools.
Speaking at a COVID-19 briefing update on Sunday, Premier Sihle Zikalala said even learners who have not yet returned to school could benefit.

He says this will help relieve pressure on many households who are already struggling financially.
"There are 2.34 million learners from 5 344 schools who are the beneficiaries. COVID-19 has put tremendous pressure on all of us and our communities that are already struggling financially.
"The Department has taken necessary precautions to prevent the spread of the virus while preparing and serving meals to learners.
"Food Handlers have been trained in the prevention of COVID-19 spread, and the necessary PPE has been delivered to schools," says Zikalala.

Meanwhile, Education MEC Kwazi Mshengu says the return of additional grades went smoothly at most schools on Monday.
"Delivery of PPEs have been completed in most districts except for two which are Umlazi and Pinetown, and in rural areas.
"I must indicate that those are the places that are really not giving us headaches except for objective challenges such as water which are community problems.
"We don't get frustrations from parents in those areas. So we are quite happy with the manner in which things are unfolding in the entire province," says Mshengu.
