KZN school assault: Pupil granted bail
Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
The 19-year-old boy alleged to have assaulted a fellow female learner last year has been granted bail of R1500.
Lindokuhle Dube made his first appearance in the Ntuzuma Magistrate's Court earlier.
He was handed over to police by his father on Friday night after a case of assault was opened.
A video of the assault has been doing the rounds.
Dube sat with his head covered in courtroom A - he faces one charge of assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm.
He opted to take on legal aid. Prosecutor, Gugu Ntombela said they did not oppose bail as the investigating officer does not believe the accused is a flight risk.

Ntombela also said he did not pose a danger to the victim assaulted in the video.
Legal aid attorney, Sphamandla Gumede says Dube will abide by his bail conditions.
Dube cannot contact the victim or witnesses.
He is due to appear in court again on September 14.
