KZN Premier says we are all to blame for COVID-19 surge in province
Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
KZN Premier, Sihle Zikalala says we only have ourselves to blame for the current surge in COVID-19 cases in our province.
KZN has 259 100 confirmed cases. "We as ordinary people all of us should to take the blame, we don't follow the cautionary measures that are in place."
Zikalala made the remarks while monitoring marking of the national senior certificate examinations at the Umlazi marking station yesterday. He says gatherings seem to be part of the issue.
"If there are funerals, we would want to follow rituals and that contributes to the spread.

"More than 50 people attend some funerals, and that is not in line with the protocol. That's why the president took time to address the issue," he says.
He says there are those who continue to converge either townships or rural areas, "They continue to play soccer and do such things. And that contributes to the spread. There are those who continue to drink together in taverns and contribute to the spread."
